Letter from the President

Welcome to the Eta Omicron chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma at Northeastern University!

Our website is a mere snapshot of all of the incredible sisters in the Eta Omicron chapter and their dedication to living the values of Kappa Kappa Gamma. Hopefully, through visiting our website, you will gain a deeper understanding of what makes our chapter so special.

Before coming to Northeastern, I moved around a lot, meaning I was familiar with the daunting task of making new friends and finding a smaller community within a larger one. However, continually going from place to place meant that I often didn’t have time to deepen relationships and find a family among my friends.

In my freshman year, I joined Kappa just three weeks into college, but I never could have imagined what this chapter would come to mean to me. Three years ago, I remember walking into the Pref room and immediately feeling comfortable. I had this feeling that these were people that would support me no matter what. The girls I talked to were incredibly driven and calmed all of my anxiety about coming into yet another new place. Not only did we talk about all of the amazing events Eta Omicron participated in, they seemed to want to understand what values motivated me to accomplish my goals. It is one thing to feel welcomed into a space and an entirely more powerful thing to feel heard.

From my Freshman Fall to now my Junior Spring, I have grown in more ways than I could’ve ever thought and I owe it all to Kappa which has grown with me every step of the way. This chapter will be there during your best moments and also the times when you might be struggling. Kappa is a space where you can learn about what a sisterhood means and what accountability means. My sisters will be there to help you study for a test or give tips about certain professors. They will read over your resume in a heartbeat or connect you with others in the professional space. Eta O is determined to expand our support network beyond just our chapter. Our members permeate not only the greater Boston area but throughout the country. Most importantly we work hard to keep improving the diversity, equity, and inclusion of that support network in all corners of our organization whether that be through recruitment or public relations.

My Kappa sisters are my backbone and inspire me every day. Every one of them has a story, a passion, and a genuine desire to be there for each other. I haven’t known anything else but Kappa during my time in college and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Eta Omicron has given me more than my best friends, Kappa has given me family.

Please scroll through our website and see some of the reasons why we call Kappa Kappa Gamma our home, and why we have come to appreciate this chapter for a lifetime to come.

Loyally,
