Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion
Eta Omicron chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma is integrating Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) into our programming to strive to become a more inclusive community. As the DEI Director, I arrange educational and celebratory events and promote educational content during chapters based on our DEI initiatives to ensure that our chapter operates with inclusivity at the forefront of our goals. Additionally, the chapter maintains open communication for feedback on ways to improve our initiatives, which include but are not limited to educational events, public relations initiatives, and receiving feedback from chapter town halls to ensure that every member is heard and respected.
Before formal recruitment in the fall, all members must attend implicit bias and microaggression training to ensure that our members learn about the historical role sororities have played in the oppression of BIPOC women. The training is a safe place for members to ask questions, voice concerns, and reflect on past experiences to recruit new members that will help foster a more inclusive and supportive environment.
Over the year, Eta Omicron will host chapter-exclusive educational and celebratory events as well as promoting ways to get involved with the Northeastern and the Greater Boston community to cultivate a community of appreciation for diversity in race, religion, sexuality, gender expression, and more.
