New Member Program

The whirlwind of going through Recruitment, being extended a bid and then joining Kappa for life can be exciting and overwhelming at the same time. Kappa gives our new sisters a warm welcome by extending friendship and mutual support through our new member program.

The new member period is a time to learn about the Fraternity and educate women on the expectations and requirements of being a Kappa. Each new member is given a Big Sister to guide her through this new stage of her life. New members also attend a retreat to foster and develop the new friendships and connections within the chapter.

The whirlwind of going through recruitment, being extended a bid, and then joining Kappa Kappa Gamma as a lifelong member can be both exciting and overwhelming. Kappa gives our new sisters a warm welcome by extending friendship and mutual support through our New Member program.

The new member experience at Kappa Kappa Gamma is designed to be a memorable and empowering journey. From the moment you accept your bid, you will be warmly welcomed into a supportive community that is dedicated to helping you flourish both personally and academically. Throughout the new member period, you can expect a series of fun and engaging activities that will help you build connections with your fellow new members and current sisters. These events will not only introduce you to the traditions and values of Kappa but will also give you a glimpse into the lifelong friendships and opportunities that await you.

A few weeks after Bid Day, new members will participate in an overnight retreat solely for their pledge class, where they will have the opportunity to get to know one another even better. New members will also participate in Kappa’s “sister dating” process, during which they will meet numerous older members of the chapter. This entire process will result in new members being paired with a Big Sister: someone to guide them through this new stage of their lives. The new member period concludes with Initiation, which is a deeply valued and respected component of Kappa’s ritual. At this point, new members officially transition to active members of Eta Omicron, a moment that the entire chapter treasures.
